Hello again

It's hard to believe I'm in the home stretch again this year. It's been another busy season but has been rewarding in many ways. I've been spending more time hiking in the back country which I am really enjoying. Check out some of my recent images. I hope your summer has been as great as mine!

Yellowstone Winter in Spring

The snow here is unbelievable. The drifts in Hayden Valley still remain 20 plus feet in various areas. it has been snowing the last 2 days straight and more is on the way tomorrow. The mountain snows in Wyoming and Montana are quite awesome and i truly don't mind. Mo is taking to the mountains as I knew he would. Great new smells for him to follow and all kinds on interesting poop to sniff. He has founf wold scat and follwed bear tracks and seems to be having a blast. I have been working hard and am beginning to look over my programs which start next week. I'm anxious to get started with them. They are by far my most favorite part of being a ranger. I haven't been out doing too much photography but have managed to capture some great moments in a few short weeks. I spent a good while with a wonderful grizzly sow and her cub of the year. take a look at the pics I've posted and you will understand why I am drawn here year after year. It's been a tough winter for Bison and elk so our wolves are enjoying the left vers from the winter buffet. I hope all of you are well and I will continue to drop you all a note regarding my 'summer' ( I have to laugh) as it unfolds.

Yellowstone 2011

Arrived just a few days ago at the greatest park in the US. I've been super busy as usual and re-familiarizing myself with the thousands of resources here. The trip across country was tough since I took Mo along with me. He didn't adapt very well to the long trip and has lost his interest in car rides. The park has had more snow last winter than in the last 10 winters so the world I live in is quite dynamic. There have been avalanches and rock slides which have affected travel. The snows of winter killed quite a few Bison so the bears and wolves have a nice buffet this spring. I haven't done much in the way of photography but have already spent time with my favorite wild Mustangs of McCullough Peak. (Check out attached photo). I've had two bear encounters of both species as well as two wolves on a Bison carcass in the valley. Today I'm in West Yellowstone getting supplies and and getting online to keep in touch with all who are interested. Visitation is high in erarly spring at around 3000 per day at our Visitor Center. Snowed yesterday morning a little but the mountain peaks are gorgeous and snow-capped. well. I'm off to do some more ":stuff" and will keep in touch with updates and photos.
